About 60 farmers, who arrived from six districts of Kumaon division, were informed about the technique of planting fruit trees on the second day of training at Udyan Bhawan. Horticulture Superintendent Chandan Ram called upon the farmers to take up apple cultivation commercially. He said that the climate is very unfavorable for the production of species like Super Chief, Early Red, -1, Gray-1, Humpair, Yuvasani, Zero Mine, Red Vilox, Grainy, Smith and Superchief in the mountainous areas.
On the other hand, the retired director Dr. BS Rana has provided information about the technique of planting trees. He told that by taking proper care and following them, the plants start giving fruits within two years. When these fruits reach their adult stage, 30 to 40 kg of fruits are produced.
