Apple is cultivated in in many provinces of the country. It is cultivated in the snowy plains of Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Many advanced varieties of apples are cultivated in these provinces, which are in demand in foreign countries as well. It is said that apple can be cultivated anywhere if favorable weather is found. This is the reason that now the trend of farmers of plain areas of the country has increased towards apple cultivation. Apple is being cultivated in many parts of Uttar Pradesh. Avinash Kumar, the founder of Shabla Seva Sansthan of Gorakhpur, is successfully cultivating apples. Five years ago, he planted apple trees in about three acres. Due to which good profit is being made. So let’s know how to cultivate apples in the plains from them-
Climate for Apple Cultivation:
Avinash Kumar says that apple is cultivated in the mountainous regions of the country in a temperate climate. It is cultivated in the cold areas where the temperature is 7 degree centigrade. But in the plains it can be cultivated in the temperature of 40 to 60 degree centigrade.
Plant Preparation for Apple Cultivation:
The interest of the farmers of Uttar Pradesh towards apple cultivation has also increased a lot. People are very conscious about apple farming. Avinash Kumar says that we are providing plants to the farmers of the area right here. For this, we prepare apple plants in the nursery by pen method. The cost of one plant is up to Rs.90.
Sowing time of Apple Plant
The proper time for sowing apple is the month of January to March. Planting of apple plants can be done even in rainy season but there should not be water logging in the field. If there is waterlogging in the field, then the chances of damage to the plants increase. That’s why if you are sowing in the rain, then choose such a field for gardening, in which rain water can drain easily.
Suitable Soil for Apple Cultivation:
The loamy soil of the plains of the country is suitable for apple cultivation. At the same time, it can be cultivated easily even in the dry climate here.
Advanced Varieties of Apple:
According to an estimate, more than 7500 varieties of apple are found in the world. But H9 and Anna varieties of apple are suitable for the plains of the country.
Method of Sowing of Apple Plant:
About 180 apple plants are planted per acre. Row to row distance is 20 feet and plant to plant distance is 20 feet. Dung manure, Trichoderma and some organic fertilizers are also put in the pit during transplanting of plants. After this, the pit is filled with soil and pressed well.
Apple Crop Production:
Apple trees start bearing fruits after three years. About 13 to 14 quintals are produced from one acre. At the same time, 8 to 10 kg of apples come out from each plant. After this the yield increases year after year.
Profits from Apple Cultivation:
Avinash says that it costs about 50 thousand rupees for sowing apples in one acre. Where the cost per plant is 90 rupees. In this way 16200 rupees have to be spent for the plant. Apart from this, wire fencing is done to protect the plants from stray animals. There are other expenses like organic fertilizers. In the first year, there is a net profit of 72 thousand rupees from one acre. At the same time, after this the cost decreases and the profit increases. In this way, by sowing apple plants once, lakhs of rupees can be earned annually.
