Many new results of all these researches have also come in front of the people, that is why many scientists have also tried to know the results of many types of research going on in the city on the occasion of Science Day on 28th February. Devi Ahilyabai University School of Science of Indore is one of them which has started working on the endangered species of plants. The department has done research to prepare protocols for Anjam, Shisham, Vilayati and Ajwain. All these species are slowly on the verge of extinction.

In fact, 14 students of the Department of Microbiology of Ahilyabai Science College, Indair, have tried their best to find out the purity of the water of 15 ponds present in the city. Research has revealed that the water of many of these ponds is not fit for drinking. At the same time, research is being done in the University’s School of Pharmacy to make medicines for diabetes and thyroid effective so that these patients have to take less medicines for these diseases.
20 plants found new life
During the research conducted at the University of Indore, 20 plants have got a new life in the research. All these are on the verge of extinction in Malwa region. It includes rosewood, celery, anjam, exotic fennel etc. The Union Ministry of Science and Technology and the UGC had given a grant of 1.4 crores to the department for research. 24 lakh rupees were given for the total lab, apart from this, a total of two scientists were also given by the UGC to work in this field, after which these results came to the fore.

Professors say that nature has given us a lot which is used as medicines. There are many plants which are used with great faith in Ayurvedic treatment. Here there is a lot of demand for celery, fennel, psorlia and other plants, but all these plants are available only in small quantities. Everyone says that earlier the Anjan tree was found in abundance in the surrounding areas, but now it is found in very less quantity. Anjan’s wood is very strong and with its help rope and wooden articles are made.
Changes are happening in medicine content
Nowadays, work is being done to increase the effect of medicines prepared from different plants in the market. Patients like diabetes and thyroid do not need to take more dose of medicine, so work is being done to improve the quantity found in medicine. Scientists say that many good results of research will come out in the coming times.
