Now it is often seen in the country that today’s youth are forgetting the way of self-employment to do a minor private job even after getting higher education. Knowing that they are physically and mentally exploited in private sector jobs. Even then they do not adopt self-employment nor try for it. Rahul Bhambhu, a resident of Rattakheda village in Fatehabad district of Haryana, has adopted the path of self-employment by adopting mushroom cultivation after doing MSc in Physics.
With a capital of about 11 lakh rupees, Rahul started mushroom cultivation in 1 acre. Due to this, along with his employment, other people of the village also got employment. Young farmer Rahul says that after completing his MSc in Physics from Hisar, he ran a coaching center for three years. After that he thought of cultivating mushrooms. First of all, he took training from Karnal to cultivate it. After that, preparations for its cultivation started from the summer season. About 11 lakh rupees were spent on structure, wages and straw etc. Now it is getting good production everyday. Rahul believes that by the end of the year its entire cost will be borne.
According to Rahul, these days the demand of mushroom is continuously increasing in the markets, seeing this we have started its cultivation. Due to the high cost in this, I felt for a time that there is a risk in this, but later I started farming. At present, mushroom is being sold in the market for Rs.70-90 per kg, in such a situation, its price is also good. There is very little use of water in mushroom cultivation and environmental protection is also helping. Apart from wages, other expenses are also less. In such a situation, the profits are getting better.
Krishi Vigyan Kendra Dhani Bikaneri believes that now farmers need to find other options other than farming. Progressive farmers have started mushroom, horticulture, vegetable production, honey rearing. Due to this, there is a lot of increase in income. For this, the farmers themselves have to be aware.
