ranks 9th in apple production in the world. While its total production is about 1.48 million tonnes, about 58 percent of the total production of apples in our country is in Jammu and Kashmir, 29 percent in Himachal Pradesh, 12 percent in Uttaranchal and 1 percent in Arunachal Pradesh.
Apple is one of the temperate fruits, which is known for its taste, aroma, color and good storage capacity. It is also used in fresh and processed products like jam, juice, marmalade etc. Many vitamins including fat, protein, carbohydrate, mineral elements are found in it, which gives good health benefits. In such a situation, if the gardens do apple horticulture with scientific techniques, then maximum production of apples can be achieved. In this episode, many times pits are formed in the stems of the old apple trees of the gardeners, due to which there is a deep impact on the yield of apples. In such a situation, this problem can be overcome by an advanced technique.
cement plaster technology
If pits are formed in the trunks of old apple trees, then old apple trees are being saved from rotting by cement plaster in apple orchard areas. Explain that if the hollow part of the stem or thick branch is filled with cement, then water does not enter it and rotting of the tree stops. Due to this the tree keeps on giving crop. This is a successful experiment. This technique is being used by many apple orchards in the districts of Shimla, Kullu, Mandi etc. The special thing is that this technology is very cheap.
How does the technology of cement plaster work?
If a pit has been formed due to rotting of apple stem or thick branch, then first of all clean it. Remove the rotten part by scratching it. After this mix sand and cement and then fill the hollow part with it. When it is filled, apply it outside the skin of the stem for at least two centimeters. In this way water does not enter inside the damaged part under any circumstances.
This technique is successful for apple growers. With this, old trees can be saved from rotting quickly, whose age is 30 to 45 years. This way you can get longer crop from the trees.
