    what is this platform

    This platform will take orders from common farmers and deliver them to customers. Apart from retail customers, the platform is tapping opportunities in other states as well. Where there is a demand for mangoes from Telangana. Kalgudi Digital CEO Raj Vallabhaneni said that this platform has been started recently, but it has delivered more than 200 tons. It is expected to increase from 8,000 to 10,000 tonnes.

    There are around 90,000 mango farmers on this platform. Now there are B2C and B2B platforms, in which mangoes collected from multiple locations are transferred to their warehouse at Medchal for grading, sorting and packaging. After this it is sent to the customers. For local orders, which are taken in units of 5 kg, it takes about 4 to 5 days to be delivered after harvesting. He said that ripening is done by natural methods and not by carbide.

    The platform is ensuring at least 15 to 20 percent more price to the farmers than the market. This can be as high as 50 per cent depending on the additional responsibilities undertaken by the farmer – pruning, handling at harvest, using mulch, etc. It is famous because of its quantity and taste as compared to other states. Himayat, also known as Imam Pasand, is also popular. This is mainly because of its thin skin, rich pulp and flavour.

    It is reported by Kalgudi Digital that “Banginpalli is popularly known as Safeda in northern states. Similarly Sindhura is known as Gulabkhas and Subarnarekha is known as Sundari. Our local farmers were not aware of this, but middlemen were buying here and selling for a premium in those states. Now, we are directly tapping the markets to get better prices for the farmers.
