Rajmohan started terrace gardening about 6 years ago in the year 2015 with 20 grow bags. But today he is growing fruits and vegetables in 200 grow bags on his 1,250 sq ft terrace.

Rajmohan cultivated vegetables like tomato, cucumber, pumpkin in the initial days. This gave them a good yield. Today he is growing grapes, musk turmeric, bush pepper, groundnut, brinjal, spinach, chichinda, coriander, chilli, cabbage, cauliflower, bitter gourd, ginger, turmeric, beans, kundru, ber, apple, Krishna fruit, paper lemon, papaya in the terrace garden. , Banana, Mulberry, Strawberry, Yam and Maize are cultivated. Cultivation of grapes on such a terrace?

He brought two small one month old grape plants from the market and prepared grow bags for them. After this the soil was kept in sunlight for 10 days, then lime water was sprinkled in it. Covered with cloth and left it for 2 weeks. Then he mixed cow dung, coconut husk and vermicompost in equal parts in the soil. Filled it in three-fourths of the grow bag. Now both the grape plants brought from the nursery are planted in it. After this the vines of grapes increased, only then he kept 2 healthy vines and pruned the rest of the vines. Within 9 months the plants were ready for harvesting. In this way, these vines bear fruits thrice in a year.

Focused on irrigation and fertilizers

Rajmohan gave water to the grape vines depending on the season. He says that there is a need to give water 1 to 3 times daily. Along with this, he uses organic fertilizers made from bird’s eye chili and garlic or rice water to protect the crop from insects. Apart from this, spray neem oil to eliminate insects.
