Vasini Bai has proved through her commendable efforts that with proper planning and dedication, farming and horticulture can be more profitable than any other business. Vasini’s interest in Anthurium plants was sparked in 1970 when his son brought two plants of Anthurium species. By 1985, he developed the first species of Antharium, Antharium Dora. While between 1985-2000, he developed five other species – Akash, Giant Pink, George, JV Red, and JV Pink. According to him, more profit can be earned by growing Anthurium species flower in poly house by using less space.
Honored by the President:
Vasini Bai, a female farmer from Kerala, has also been honored with various awards for her commendable work of creating 6 new species of domestic ornamental plant Anthurium. In which the honor given by the then President Pranab Mukherjee in the year 2017 is also included.
